ADA signage is serious business, and you can turn to Big Mouth Signs for knowledge and expertise regarding ADA (American with Disabilities Act) signage and markers! The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law in 1990, prohibiting discrimination based on disability. The act helps remove barriers that people with disabilities (including over 2.5 million Americans who suffer from visual impairments) face on a daily basis. An ADA compliant sign is required for every permanent room in a public building. Fines for non-compliance can run in excess of $50,000. It’s important that your business is in compliance with this legislation, and we can help.
Who Needs ADA Compliant Signs?
If you operate a business or venue that is open to the public, then it’s highly likely that you need to have ADA signage in place. If you employ works who help you with your business, then you may also need certain ADA signage. Finally, if you have ADA signs that were installed as part of ADA guidelines mandated in 2001, then you may need to add or modify your signage to be in compliance with ADA guidelines that were updated in 2010 – – in other words, your 2001 ADA signage may no longer be sufficient!
ADA signs sometimes look a little “institutional”. They don’t have to. Let our designers work with you to create signage that looks great, works well with the décor of your building/office, AND is ADA compliant!
